Government of Japan has agreed to provide Japanese Yen (JPY) 700 million (equivalent to approximately NPR 683.2 million) grant assistance to Nepal under"the Japan’s Grant Aid for the Economic and Social Development Programme". An agreement to this effect has been signed and exchanged today at the Subarna Hall, Ministry of Finance. His Excellency Mr. Masashi Ogawa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Nepal and Dr. Rajan Khanal, Secretary, Ministry of Finance signed the agreement on behalf of their respective government. The objective of the programme is to reduce poverty by helping to build infrastructure and thereby to attain stability in developing countries particularly from the viewpoints of human security and conflict prevention. This grant assistance is expected to support the Government of Nepal’s effort on development as well as demonstrating Japan’s determined commitment to contribute to the socio economic development of Nepal.
